With my old job, I went on maternity leave. Came back to work for about 2 months and left. I was "worried" about the issues you mentioned. So I worked for 2 months and said that it was not working for me, I wanted to work PT and be with my son.

It should say something in your terms and conditions regarding your maternity package. Yes, some employers will make you return to work for a minimum amount of time or you have to pay back maternity pay.

I sent in a letter of resignation on the day I was due back to the office from ML. They never charged me anything.
