Question about Maternity clothes?

I have my HS reunion this year, and I will be about 14 Weeks. Do you think I'm going to need a Maternity dress, or can I get away with a regular dress with a little room in front. I don't really have a belly yet at 9 Weeks, SO I'm guessing I won't be too big.

How was everyone else at 14 weeks?

Re: Question about Maternity clothes?

I was still in my regular clothes at 14 weeks, but I'm plus-sized to begin with. Maybe buy a dress that's a size larger?

That might be a good idea! Most of the dresses on the market now look like Maternity dresses anyway. I haven't gained any weight yet, so I figured a Maternity dress might be too big.

Re: Question about Maternity clothes?

I think you will be able to use a regular dress with a tiny amt of room in it.

I am average weight, but have been showing all along. But even I could have worn a regular dress that had some room in the belly.

It depends...I looked totally pregnant at 14 weeks.

It definitely depends...I was pretty thin to begin with, but looked pretty pregnant by 14 weeks. Everybody's body is different. Wait it out...you could always run to get something the week before if need be.

Have fun!

Re: Question about Maternity clothes?

I just looked like I gained bit of weight at 14 weeks....I'm not overweight to begin with actually very normal...so everyone is different. If you can wait until 12-13 weeks and then see, but I would opt for a larger normal sized dress...

Re: Question about Maternity clothes?

I am pretty slim to begin with, but my body shows a bit later than some women...I had a wedding to go to at 21 weeks and another next weekend (I'll be 24 weeks) and I am wearing non-maternity dresses that I will definitely wear again! I bought dresses that have the bubble style at the bottom because they have a bit more room and don't hug my belly. Last time, no one could even tell I was pregnant, they time, it might be a bit more obvious, but I am still comfortable and fitting into a non-maternity dress easily. I found that maternity dresses do not look right on me yet since my belly is still small.

I have the opposite problem but for the same event Chat Icon Chat Icon
Try getting something with an empire waist that would fit a belly if you have one, and if not, is still in style

i looked like i gained weight at 14 weeks , i didnt look pregnant. I wore maternity shirts bc they had a tendancy to make me look more pregnant than chubby bc the way they are shaped

Re: Question about Maternity clothes?

I'm at 14 weeks right now. I have a wedding today and I can not fit into a dress that i wore 6 months ago that has a zipper back. I have gained no weight but my body/boobs have changed.

I am wearing another slip on dress I had (with no zipper) that looks great.

I would say be sure you have some room in the dress, cause even if you dont gain weight your body moves!!

Re: Question about Maternity clothes?

I'm almost 16 weeks and I still fit into a lot of my regular clothes. I would wait it out and then see if you need to buy something or not.

With my first PG I was barely noticeable at 14 weeks. I say get a dress with a little room and you should be fine. (but keep the tags on just in case)Chat Icon

Re: Question about Maternity clothes?

I am 12 weeks as of yesterday and I have a wedding today.

When I was trying on dresses I was in the same size or with some I went up one size however the problem was that I do have a little belly beginning and with certain dresses it just looked like being chunky rather than being pregnant...

I finally found a dress that flattered the belly and depending on who knows-you can tell I am pregnant....others that don't know won't have a clue...

I got it at Lord and Taylor.

I wanted to add that I waited until Thursday to buy my dress for today because I wasn't sure what would look best...

My friend is 13 weeks and has a six-pack.

I'm almost 10 weeks and look like I've got a beer belly.

If you're not showing at all now, you might be able to get away with extra room in the front.

Re: Question about Maternity clothes?

I'm plus sized and have a belly to begin with. I'm going to be 13 weeks on Monday and I'm planning on going out this weekend and buying some maternity pants as my pants are no longer fitting comfortably. Even my bigger sizes that I had in my closet are snug.

Re: Question about Maternity clothes?

At 14 weeks I had a tiny belly. I think a maternity dress would have been too big on me. Maybe you can get a babydoll/empire dress? Either way, wait until the week before to buy it--you never know when you'll pop!
