Q for BTDT moms re: Newborn clothing

Hi moms! I'm trying to see what I have and what I need but I need some help.

1. for the time period right after birth when the umbilical cord stump is still there do i need side snap shirts/onesies or are the ones that go down the middle ok too? which is better?

2. for convenience the first three months would you say snaps down the front work better or are the ones that only snap on bottom better?

3. do you think onesie's are better for 0-3 mo or should i get some shirt/pants too?

4. I have a bunch of these carter's undershirts that snap on the side - what do they wear on the bottom?

TIA SOOOOOOO MUCH...this is all so confusing to me!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Honestly, I used the side-snap t's about twice--I think the "regular" onesies are just fine.

I'm not too sure what you mean by the 2nd question, but whatever clothing I have usually snaps at the bottom. I do have one "fancy" pink ruffly onesie that snaps all the way down that is good for the doctor's visit so I don't have to pull anything over her head after shots, etc...she's already riled up enough.

I prefer the shirt/pants combo during the day. I don't like the look of just hanging around in a white onesie (plus she got TONS of clothes!!!!) I also don't like the "sleep and play" outfits for daytime--I only use them as pjs. All this is really up to you though.

As for your last question...pants on the bottom?

Don't worry; it'll all be second nature before you know it!

Thank you so much Chat Icon I know I must sound like a total idiot Chat Icon

As for the second q - what I meant was - is it easier to have snaps down the front for some reason or are the ones that pull over and just snap on the bottom just as good.

Also, as for the shirt with pants instead of a onesie - these are ok for newborns?

Thanks again!

My first DD is a September baby too and once it starts getting cool, you may want to use both--a onesie underneath a shirt, otherwise when it's warm the shirt alone is probably fine.

I didn't put DD in anything except for onsies in the beginning. Separate pieces were just too hard when handling a NB. We would have her in a onsie and a bottom (pants, shorts)

I used the side snap shirts maybe twice. Again not convenient when changing a newborn. I was always concerned about her skin so we used onsies for the 1st 3 months all the time

I rarely used onesies and still really don't. It's so hard to get the things over a newborns head without them screaming. At least IME. When she was first born she wore a lot of one piece snap up the front outfits (Carters and the like). And now at almost 4 months, she wears mostly 2 piece outfits or dresses.

We used the bottom snap onesies with pants for the first three months all the time. For the first couple of weeks she was so little though the only thing that fit her was snap all the way down outfits. Now we only use them for pjs.
