Probably not the right board for this but thought you mommies might know

(Cause in my eyes, you know EVERYTHING!) Chat Icon

I completly understand that every day my son cooks is better for him. HOWEVER, NONE of my doctors seem to understand the pain this tumor is causing me. Most nights I am awake until 4 or 5 am and I literally screaming and crying in pain. When is enough a enough? I feel like for my health, it's time to say its been long enough.
Do I have the right to TELL my OB's office that its time to go in and take this little one out?

Honestly, from everything I hear you are going through, I think it might be better for both of you to have this baby very soon. The stress your body is going through may/may not be having an effect on your little muffin, but after 34 1/2 weeks, it's not like you haven't hung in the best you could...I think it's your decision for you and the baby and yes, you do have the right to tell them to take the baby now...

Most doctors see 37 weeks as the ok time to go in. But, if you are that much in pain I would seriouslly tell them & ask what is the risks for going in now.
I am keeping you in my prayers! I hate that you are suffering so much!!!Chat Icon

First of all, they aren't you and that means that they aren't going through the emotional and physical pain that you are and have been going through...so they can just S U C K it!

I am surprised that they haven't been more proactive in making sure you got to just 34 weeks in your condition and then proceeding forward with having the baby born/take care of your growing needs (34 weeks and 3 days...you have exceeded so much farther than many people could have...and many twins/triplets are born at this time healthy and fine with minimal stays in the NICU)

It's admirable of you to live in this excruciating pain for your son, but there are humane limits and if it's time, it's time...IMO, you have to be proactive to your OB and demand something...they aren't God, so their opinions although educated and valued--aren't based on what you are going through...and even they don't know 100%...

You are selfless and NOT evil, and not even close to the word disappointment, so don't even entertain that thought...just know that please.

Deb I don't see how you being in this much pain and stress everyday can possibly be good for your little one. Definitely speak your mind...you are practically at 35 weeks and I think that would be OK for your little guy to come out now. Don't feel bad...you have to take care of yourself as well to be the best mommy you can be to your little guyChat Icon

Speak your mind...it's your life and anyone that knows you knows you would never put your little one in danger....I will continue to pray and think of youChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Deb- in order for your baby to be happy- you must be happy....

IF you are in pain, and over stressed... its not good for little Joey at all.....

If you are looking for us to say its ok for him to be born now..... than I will most certainly say- if you are done... "ITS OK!!!"

Regardless of what happens- everything is gonna be fine! It will work out....

Also- the steroid treatments are helping him "cook" a little faster than the avg. baby.....

Can they do an amnio to determine where you are at???

Im praying to God- that little Joey will make this decision for you! Although my situation was extremly different.... I remember how hard of a decision it is to make- and feeling nothing but guilt while making it.... You are an amazing mother and woman for even making it thus far!!

Little Joey- please come out and meet you mommy and all your LIF Aunties!!!!

I just wonder if it's a liability issue. It always seems like 37 weeks is the magic number that its OK to take a baby unless there is a definite risk to mom or baby before then.
I honestly don't see how you suffering in pain and not getting enough sleep and rest overall can be good for you or the baby.
How many weeks are you now? Do you think you can compromise with them and maybe meet int he middle tomorrow?
I know my midwives always said that at 35 weeks they don't try to stop labor so I would think the odds of a baby being just fine at 35 weeks is pretty good, you're pretty close to that aren't you?

I don't have an answer for you, but wanted to give you more Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Your health is just as important as the baby's, and his health depends on yours too. If you do decide to get him out early, there is nothing wrong with that. The sooner you get healthy the sooner you can enjoy the rest of your life with your new family!
I know this is probably a stupid question but are your doctors all talking to eachother?

Re: Probably not the right board for this but thought you mommies might know

Thanks Ladies.
As you can see its another bad night and here I am awake and in pain at 3am.

Maris- They never gave me the steriod injection (although they talked about it) and apparently now I am at a point where the steriod injection won't help? That in itself is really bothering me. I feel like if there is a point that the injection is not as effective, then they should have had me come in right before that to check.

We have an amnio set up for next Monday, but in all honesty, I don't see the point to it.
I really don't. I know that it will come back and the development will not be 100% but it wll be close enough and in ALL the research I have done it is more than likely to be AOK.

Jen- I will be 35 weeks on Saturday

Deb - I think you need to tell your doctors as soon as possible - that the pain is overwhelming. I don't think any doctor wants to make the decision to get Joey out sooner because then they are making that decision. A decision that carries risks.

When I read that Marissa had PUPPs and was in such discomfort, I held back FM'ing to talk to her doctor about how early she could go. You are in extreme pain - and at this point your side effects of the tumor have worsened. Talk to your DH & to the doctors. Even if you have a goal of Monday, it may get you through it. While you're busy cooking little Joey, you need to ensure that you're going to be around for him too.

This is the beginning of second guessing everything you'll do for your little boy. Every mom second guesses decisions she makes. It won't ever end. You just need to make yours sooner than the rest of us.

How quick will you get the necessary results from the amnio on Monday??? If they will be back by let's say Tuesday at noon then I would hold out if you can until then- just to double check everything. If they won't be back for a week then I would just try and make it to 35 weeks if you can and then I would tell them that you can't deal with the pain. Joey needs a healthy mommy! You need to proceed with having this tumor checked and treated and you need to do that for Joey as soon as you can! Do not feel bad or guilty.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon My heart goes out to you for the pain you are going thru with this damnChat Icon tumor and the physical and emotional stress of the baby, and whats best to do. I do think that if you are in that much pain then you should speak to your dr's about taking him out. I know the longer he cooks the better it is, but this is a very different situation where I believe its worse to have you be in pain or under stress b/c that def will affect him. I remember when I had kidney stones (which i know in no way compares to your pain) I was in horrific pain.. i mean horrific, where i was screaming and almost thru myself on the floor and ended it all. I was 33 weeks at the time and due to the stress and pain i was under it was causing the baby's heartrate to soar and then drop, and then started to put me into early labor on my own. They had to stop the contractions. So he will def be affected by any stress and pain you are experiencing and you should def speak to your Doc's... good luck! We are all here for you...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Probably not the right board for this but thought you mommies might know

I had Hayley at 35 weeks and she was fine! She was hooked up to a machine to help her breathe but that was only for a few hours. She was NICU longer because of something unrelated to her being born early.

You being in pain and upset is not good for the baby either. I would have a serious talk to your Drs and tell them enough is enough. You want to deliver this baby NOW!!!!!

OMG, there's no good reason why you should be putting your health at further risk, suffering such excruciating pain and risking the well-being of your little muffin any further. 34 weeks is FINE. Women have babies everyday much, much earlier than that! Good luck Chat Icon

Deb if I was in your shoes I would probably sit down and talkto the doctors. You're right, it's not good for you -or the baby - for you to be in so much pain.

This is a repost from NFR but wanted to make sure I kept you ladies in the loop since you have been so incredibly helpful with me.

I had an appointment with my OB's office today. She is going to talk to my perinatologist and to my neurologist and see if we can get a game plan going. The game plan we talked about was to do an amnio this week as well as a steriod shot and then plan to take the little one out next week (he will be 35+ weeks) via c-section. She is going to call the perinatologist now and I am supposed to call the neurologist and she said she will call me back by the end of the day.

My boys were born at 35 weeks and their lungs were fine. One was smaller and had issues but that was because they were twins.

Are they doing the amnio to test thier lung development? I know with my boys they never tested lung development, but I guess the Dr wanted them out asap. I would push the dr's to do the c-section if you are in that much pain.
