prices for someone to come to my home to watch my kids..

I need daycare for my two boys five days a week for 7 1/2 hrs a day--in my home....what do you think something like this would cost?

ETA: Just wanted to clarify that I wanted someone to come to my house...I have someone in mind, just wasn't sure what the rate was.

Re: prices for in home daycare

I have one child and have someone in my home for about that and it ranges from 500-700..i think it depends on the experience..i was told they usually charge the same for 2 or 3 kids so it seems to be expensive for one kid but cheaper when you have two...
Are you looking online for someone or an agency?

LOL, i wont pay that but i think right now i am paying 560 for 35 hours a week, it really depends, i will be honest, i have had horrible luck with inhome daycare...someone on here was kind enough to give me a referral to a nanny agency because even the girl with 8 years experience has been a piece of work...
Make sure if you are looking for at home care, you really spell things out!
For me, i didnt as much as i should have and learned a hard lesson. My nanny is constantly on the phone..i mean, she has a song for every person that calls, lol..Today, i popped in and she was in a huffy mood bc my 5month old daughter only slept for 2 half hour naps and she loves to tell me how abnormal that is..To make matters worse, I own a pool and she looks at it each day and says i cant wait to swim in it! My pool guy tells me the nanny asked him if it was heated! She told me yesterday she will be wearing her bathing suit everyday in the summer with a cover up..She asked if she could drive DD around and then a few weeks later mentioned that with the last family, when she was driving their DC with her boyfriend in the car??!! I am a first time mom so i am a little protective but i have come home and DD is screaming in the bed or swing and she is like, she has to learn how to go to sleep etc...my neighbor said she saw her taking her on a walk and was on the phone the whole time etc....so, there are cons but there are wonderful ppl out there, just screen them!

I agree with the poster who said $500-$700/week.

And just to counter the "bad" nanny story above, I have had the same nanny for my DD since she was 4 months old (she's now 22 mos). She is the most amazing woman who loves and cares for my child as if she were her own. She is a true gem ... and I know there are others out there like her. Chat Icon

Re: prices for someone to come to my home to watch my kids..

Yeah, i have been looking at wireless security systems..i am annoyed as heck at this point! Everytime i come home lifetime is on all of my TV's..i deliberately put BabyEinstein in all of them hoping she will get the point but no wonder DD is fussy, i would be annoyed if i had to watch lifetime too!

OP-How did you find your nanny? I am looking for a longterm stay but have had awful luckChat Icon Plus, please dont think i am trying to be negative, i just wish (hiring for the first time in my life) i knew what I know now so that i could have maybe spelled things out a little better

Re: prices for someone to come to my home to watch my kids..

well i personally see nothing wrong with her watching tv or using the phone depending ont he childs age. But if you dont wasnt them to do those things it should be discussed prior...
