Pre-school - need help with decision

We have universal pre-K where I live, but you apply by lottery. We didn't get in at first and were fine with him staying at school he is at. He was set to go 4 days a week - two days 9-2, the rest 9-1140. The school is play based, small, and nice community. Next year are new teachers so I was a little apprehensive about it and the kids he will be with well....
We just got notice they have a spot at the pre-K. It would be free - a big savings for us. Mind you- once we thought he wasn't in we budgeted for the school, but still. The pre-K is academic based, preparing for Kindergarten. It will be 5 days a week, afternoons 1230-315. I'm torn - although money is very big help- we're due with twins in Oct. and it will mean another transition for him. The school has a great reputation, I just worry if its too much academics and just a change - for both of us. Including the afternoon session and no 9-2. Thoughts?

Honestly you have to do what you think is best, but imho I think he would be fine with the universal pre k and definitely do that one..my dd was in our upkand it got her so ready for kindergarten, ds was lucky enough to get picked for it next year as well..no matter what u pick there will be a change for him..for my ds I had to go to the afternoon session which I am nervous about bc honestly the times work better for me next year and it is a big change for him bc he stills takes a nap and when I try to avoid it he puts himself down for a nap..going to be interesting how he deals with this lol..Goodluck with your decision

Go for the universal prek. Honestly at that age they transition so much better. Plus, it's not like he's going to be the new kid in class. They'll all be new and nervous. By oct he'll have new friends and even easier transition going to kindergarten.

I have twins that are 2 1/2. I am all for the pre K but on that note, given that you have to drive him/pick up...make sure you have help.
You wont be able to drive for like 3 weeks after c section
