possible to get to JFK or LGA by public transportation?
is there a subway or bus that goes the airports???

I know buses go to LGA, but I don't know the specifics.
You can take the LIRR to Jamaica and then take the AirTrain to Kennedy. We did it last month and it was super easy. We took the LIRR from Hicksville and made great time getting to the airport, and you're dropped right at your terminal. It's $5 and you can get the Metrocard there.

It's definitely easy to get to JFK...the A train to Far Rockaway and then a bus or Air Tran...long commute but relatively easy.
