Port Jeff Ferry
I am a little confused with the pricing to go to CT.
If I take my car on and have 3 people going on the ferry, how much does it cost?
I see it says $56 but is that for one way and how for each person?

Re: Port Jeff Ferry
You pay for one way, driver and car. Any additional passengers cost a few bucks extra.

Re: Port Jeff Ferry
Ok so I see it says car and unlimited passengers is $75. So it would cost me $150 to get there and back, correct?

And that's cheaper than Orient Point. On that ferry you have to pay for passengers, this one is unlimted passengers.

Re: Port Jeff Ferry
Wow that is just nuts. I need the car as we have another 45 minute drive after that so it is not like we can just get on and go

I know, it really adds up. We're actually taking the Orient Ferry in a few weeks when we go up to the casinos. I hate paying so much but I REALLY hate going all the way through the city and back over when I'm already out in eastern Suffolk.

Yes same for us. We actually look forward to the ferry as such a nice, relaxing way to start off our trip to Mohegan. It's such a nice drive through wine country then so relaxing going over on the boat, then super quick once you are on the CT side to get to the casinos I remember when gas was high, they kept raising the prices and blaming it on fuel surcharges etc. Now that gas is so low, I don't see it reflected in the prices at all!

Are you going with kids or adults as passengers? Kids are free up to a certain age.

It's definitely pricy because it's convenient...the other alternative is to save money and drive around.

I don't know how you are getting that price. It's $56 for the driver and the car. It's $16 for an extra adult in the car. The child is free. So it's $72 each way, or $144 round trip.

This.
I live in CT so we take the ferry frequently back to LI. Depending on when you are going in CT, where you live on LI, and when you are travelling, I often find it can be quicker to drive. You are paying for the ease of the trip, which is valuable. Generally, it takes me 2.5 on the ferry with travel time to and from ferry and the time you need to be there in advance. If I drive at an off time it takes less than 2 so even with traffic, it's usually quicker.
