Please recommend your budget friendly Disney vacation

I'll be home on maternity leave and it's the only time until I retire that we'll be able to travel off peak. We're going to try to go to Disney for 5 days in Oct. We don't need anything fancy. Thanks!

Any of the All Star resorts are super affordable and are perfect for children.

Check out Mousesavers.com It is a great site that will help you with discounts and to get the most from your money. She breaks down packages to tell you whether something is a good deal or not. Also she has every discount offered on her site - and lists discounts for both on and off property. I find it a lot of help. Also she gives you tips and codes for how to rent a car for the cheapest price you can get IF you need one. It also breaks down tickets etc so that you evaluate what you want and don't need. Cheapest is to stay off site you lose a lot of nice amenities like extra magic hours - which is helpful in the mornings when you have little ones. Although Oct is a nice time to go. The best bang for your buck on site are the value resorts. If you need a bigger room they do have some family suites that are the price of the moderate resorts and I think they have a mini kitchen so you could eat breakfast in the room and save some money.

Check out gardengrocer.com - it is like peapod and will deliver to your hotel. Skip breakfasts at the hotel or park and eat in your room, order the food for snacks both in room and your hotel and you can save there as well. Since it is like peapod you can get everything from baby food, and yo baby yogurt, to juice, milk etc. Bell services will keep it cold if you are not in your hotel when it is delivered.

You can also ship a box to your hotel with things like diapers, wipes, and other disposable items (a medium size uhaul box about 25lbs is about $18 with fed ex ground) and you can save on carrying extra luggage.

Just wanted to add if you go to WDW's website and register and price out some trips and save them (free to do) then order their free trip planning DVD many people are getting private emails with codes that are only good for the person who receives the email - but they have been things from % discount off the cost of the hotel only (this can be a good deal - it doesn't take money off the tickets or dining but just off the cost of the hotel - you can add tickets and dining to those codes) or sometime free dining IF they aren't offering it to the general public.

Not sure if they do this anymore but Sometimes they offer a free Dining plan with your stay at a Disney resort during off peak times. Check their website periodically or I've even seen ads in the newspaper. We went in September one year and got this deal. It was 5 nights, 6 days at All Star Sports, Park hopper for 6 days
and meal plan (each get One sit down meal, One quick service meal and two snacks a day)
for two people it was $980 total. This was 5 years ago though

See link from last year in May so maybe they will release dates soon

Disney Dining Plan
