please recommend a Psychologist/psychiatrist....
Can anyone recommend a psychologist (one that can give out Rx)?
Need a female on the North shore in Nassau.
Someone who specializes in Depression, possible schizophrenia (sp?).

Thank you for the hugs. This is actually for my MIL. She was seeing someone who she didn't like. So we are trying to find someone new. She has also stopped taking her meds which is not good. We see a definate change in her since.
I figured i would ask everyone on here since everyone is always so helpful.

I'm sorry I dont have a recommendation for you, but I just wanted to tell you that if you're looking for someone to prescribe medication, you need to find a psychiatrist. Psychologists are not able to prescribe medication in NY.

I'm sure you thought of this already, but did you try calling your insurance company. Maybe they can recommend someone in your area. And as the above poster mentioned, for meds you do need to see a psychiatrist.

IDK where on the North Shore you are but if you are by Manhasset or Great Neck there are doctors everywhere. If you go to the website for your health insurance it will give you recommendations.

I don't have any recs, but does your employer offer any services? Mine did, you got 5 visits free. It's nice because this way you can determine if you even like that particular therapist (not everyone is a fit).
