PLEASE Give Rec for Ped GI !!! (So Upset - Such Issues)
PLEASE please please recommend your pediatric GI. !!!  I'm so frustrated with mine. I was underimpressed at my first visit though I agreed with his diagnosis of reflux. I was never told to make another visit. Twice DS's symptoms have flared up as he had a growth spurt, and when I called with his new weight they'd send a new prescription in. Well, I called today because of another flare up combined with a growth spurt... First he tried to tell me we decided DS also had colic.  Uh, noooooo. No colic here, thank god. Then he asks me why I decided to give the most current increase from a few weeks ago because that dose is borderline ODing him at his CURRENT weight!   Are you kidding me? YOUR OFFICE gave me that prescription!! Grrrrr. I am so mad and upset and really, really, really need a new GI doctor. Sorry to vent.

I use him too. He is at 655 Deer Park avenue. its not actually in Good Sam but part of it. Its a building with a bunch of pediatric specialist in it.

Oh god, is that in Babylon? I think that's where my current GI guy. And since he essentially admitted to overdosing my baby I'm not thrilled at the idea of being anywhere near him or connected to him. But a bunch of you recommend this guy...

Man that stinks! This whole situation makes me weary of their whole office. Anyone else ever go to Dr Kessler? Anyone have a similar situaion? Anyone have any other recs?

the only other guy i saw was dr marciano... you either love him or hate him...
personally i could care less for him, but he is a good dr.

I highly recommend u seeing a GI at Schneiders Childrens Hospital. My DD sees Dr. Levine. He's excellent.
We've had so many issues with tons of GI drs. We've seen like 4 before we went to Schneiders. So many of them told me my DD didn't have reflux but HELLO she spit up 50 times a day in the beginning and was uncomfortable all the time and also had milk protein issues.
We didn't see Dr. Levine until DD was about 10-11 months old. He helped her tremendously. And at 17 months old DD had to have a upper endoscopy done to see down her throat. Her esphogus was red and eroded from all the reflux and irritation. She was then put on prevacid and still is on it at 2 years old.
I am sooooo angry about this. If we saw the right GI dr. in the first place my DD would have been treated properly and this would have been solved like a year earlier.
Anyway, Sorry so long. Good Luck FM me if u need anything. I really do suggest u looking into Schneiders!!!

I had the same problem TODAY with Dr. Kessler!!!! The meds they gave were not working and they refused to give anything else, like Prevacid or Prilosec!!! Did you end up using someone else? If so please tell me who!!
Does anyone know if Gueverra or Gold will rx Prevacid or Prilosec.

We took him to Dr. Levine for a bit. Lots of people have recommended him and other doctors at Shneiders. He was ok. A little quick to brush off some of my concerns and didn't love his one recommendation. He remained very focused on that one recommendation even when it wasn't working. Now we use Dr. Daum. Again, I find hiim opinionated but I have to give him credit - everything he's told us has been right and he actually now has DS off all meds and he's doing great.

Was he open to giving meds other than Axid or Zantac. Ds is currently on Axid which is not doing much for him.

Not really, unfortunately. I'm not sure if I would've been happy with him had I seen him first when DS was really bad. We didn't see him til DS was probably 7 or 8 months, so he was naturally a bit better. He said he feels reflux is from baby's picking up on anxiety from a new mom or other causes. Can't say that's totally unrealistic but the fact of the matter is, if my baby's screaming through a feeding, fix it! He originally wanted me to take him off everything and see how he did and I refused. He let me keep him on for a bit and wean him on my own comfort level. But I don't think he's very pro-medicine. It's frustrating. But I've heard lots of good things abotu Schneiders so if Daum doesn't sound like your kinda guy I'd try someone through there.

Thanks for the info. I do not think that he would be good for me. Ds is only 11weeks old and I am going back to work soon. I want to find someone that will be willing to try something like prevacid. I will look into the drs. at Schnieders.

just an fyi, it was my ped who gave the rx for prevacid...he is actually the one who treated the reflux, until it turned out that ds #2 also had a milk allergy..maybe you can try that route
