Playtex Drop Ins

For those of you who use drop ins, do you squeeze the air out before feeding baby, or just give it to them as is?

I'm breastfeeding so I only give bottles of breast milk occasionally, but I want to do whatever works best for the least amount of gas.

Thanks!

I stopped using them because when I squeezed the air out I would break them Chat Icon The measurement was a problem as well. I used Dr Browns instead..

Re: Playtex Drop Ins

We did sqeeze the air out a bit, but I'm not sure if it was necessary with those - I don't remember. That is the whole point of the drop in's no? We never had a problem with them. In response to the not being able to see how many ounces was taken, we used to just open the bottle up a bit to let the air out and we could see how many ounces Michael ate. That was a little annoying because if it wasn't enough then we did have to squeeze more air out - but it worked! We loved the drop-in's over here, but they're not for everyone! Chat Icon

I squeeze all of the air out. If you don't it kind of defeats the purpose. That's what I do to see how many ozs she drinks. It's not really an issue now though since she drinks the entire bottle.

Re: Playtex Drop Ins

I never squeeze any air out. I just fill them up and DS has absolutely no problems with gas. It can be hard to see if how much he is drinking so I will open the cap a little and the bag will open up and I can see how many oz. he has drank. But again, my DS has absolutely no problems with gas. I LOVE the drop-in's.

This is what we did too - DD also had no gas issues. However we have a friend who was dealing with gas issues and always got the air out.

The sell the premium bottles with the thing in the bottom that you push up to get the air out - although they aren't so easy to find Chat Icon

Re: Playtex Drop Ins

I do not squeeze the air out.

My step dad was visiting after we were home and raving about how he'd used these bottles with his three kids and tried showing my mom how he used to squeeze the air out and the liner popped out and covered him in formula!!

We just put formula in and feed. When we stop (after about 1 1/2 ozs) to burp, we open up the see exactly how much DS has eaten.
