SO annoying.

I try to arrange a community playdate. So many families in this community.

1st person interested, cancels on me 20 times. Yes 20 times, before I stop contacting her. Kept saying she was interested and going to show up- would cancel last minute or just not show up without warning.

Thank goodness for person #2. We've gotten together a few times.

Now, 3rd person interested. Says is it okay if it's my husband who comes? Of course who cares, we don't gender discriminate and it's about the kids. Well then she writes back, husband refuses to come if it's all mothers, so let her know if/when other fathers will be there. UM... well that's not happening.

UGH SO FRUSTRATING!!!!! why do I even bother? My poor DD- she loves other kids!

Annoying is right. Why does Miss Cancel even bother making arrangements if she.is gonna bail anyway? Dont commit at all
As for 3rd lady..why ask if your hubby can go without asking him first..why couldn't she go?.
Maybe you can find other families or just stick to bachelorette #2..lpl

I always say that it is hard to raise a friendly child in an unfriendly world. I never really noticed it until I became a parent and see how unfriendly and unwilling to engage so many people are. Thankfully we have friends with kids, already and DD has cousins close in age. I still feel bad for DD though when I can't get her little friends' moms from school/library classes to commit or follow through on plans.

The only way we ever see other kids is if I set up the play dates myself and host them. Would love someone to reach out to me for once for a play date! People are frustrating

Re: Playdate Vent

Is it as annoying as Nashville? :Chat Icon

I would be frustrated too. My dd loves seeing other babies and I try to do something with her at least once a day. We go to our local libraries when they have book readings and classes appropriate for her age.

We are also big on meetup.com and have met a lot of great woman on there and have gotten together for play dates.

Not sure where you live but you can explore those options and add to your circle of mom friends.

Also, check out the macaroni kid website. They list local events very specific to your area.

Ugh. It's a two way street! I have a friend who is always asking me when the next time I'm hosting a play date and she would love to come. Ummmm, you can host one too?!?! All my other friends that come over have hosted as well and invited us.

Re: Playdate Vent

it is SO annoying. I have similar issues trying to organize play dates as well. I joined a meetup group to meet other moms in the area and I got so annoyed with the flakiness of the other moms that I stopped participating. We'd have like 10 people RSVP to an event and 2 people would show up.

Exactly!!! This time with one mom I said, Hey we can always come to you too. She said ok. We will see if it actually happens.
