plastic laminate countertop
The house we are buying has a plastic laminate countertop in the kitchen. It is a dark green and Danielle and I really do not like the color or the pattern on the counter top. What are our options in replacing this counter top inexpensively? If we get another plastic laminate countertop, that is fine, we just want to know what the cost would be.....

Thats a very nice kitchen - I heard you can put laminate over the counter tops - Maybe that isnt as much money as a new counter top - We just got new applicances and want to change out the counter tops ourselves... LEt me know what you decide and $$ - I am interested in knowing...

It also has a laminate floor. I think we are going to leave that for now.

we saw laminate countertops at home depot that are premeasured. you can cut out the hole for the sink and cut it specifically for your kitchen too. i dont remember exactly how much, but it was not that expensive.

Your best bet is to take the measurements and go to Home Depot. It's not that expensive from the photos I'm guessing maybe $300, but I'm not a pro.

BTW, the countertop we have (from the pics on LIW) are formica. we couldnt splurge for granite yet. we got it for about 300....and it really does look like granite!

Check out Lowe's. In Sunday's flier they had some countertops and they were a good price.

Home Depot sells precut counter tops like you have - they aren't expensive at all. As for the linoleum floor, you could always replace that too - its not that much $ to do it yourself.

we have to do the same thing.... we have blue sunter tops and we are changing them to a light greenish color, the sheet was 44cents per sqaure foot, i believe, or maybe sqaure yard.... but it was really cheap.... it tells you all the tools you need and how to do it...
we are also re-doing our lineliom floor as well.... we bought it from lowes for about $1 and sqaure foot.... really cheap as well... we havent installed it yet but we're going to try and do it ourselves!!

Tile it!!
It's SOOO inexpensive and it's terrific. I love that I never have to worry about putting hot things on it and it's easy to clean.
We priced everything out and we were able to do our entire countertop including supplies for $500. We tiled it ourselves and it came out amazing.
ETA: your countertop has a small surface area so you could probably tile that for like $200 or even cheaper if you don't do a backsplash
