(pic): Look what appeared at our front door this am
A surf scoter!
A neighbor in our community brought the bird to us early this am because he was very weak, just sitting near the jetty, not moving. Good news, he clocked my DH in the head with his beak, so he's ready for a fight; my DH took him to his practice and is evaluating him right now. I'm waiting for a phone call to see if he'll be ok.

OK, I didn't get what you said...I didn't read a post about crazy swans; I'm assuming you had an aggressive swan incident

He is adorable...I hope he is okay. Your husband is good with wildlife too? I had found an injured Gannet a few years ago and had to take it all the way to Amagansett for treatment. It would be nice to know there is someone fairly local to go to.

People bring wildlife to him; but your best bet is to contact the STAR foundation (Save the Animals Rescue foundation): they specialize in wildlife rehab. 631-736-8207.
After my DH evaluates this guy, he's going over to the rehab.
Most recently, someone in my DHs practice rehabed a baby squirrel (they deal with a lot of baby birds as well).
The ladies who work for my DH are amazing with the wildlife; a few of them take the wildlife home and bring them to work so they can feed them every so many hours (speficially baby birds).

Aww that is so sweet that DH is taking care of the poor duck. I hope he is OK, I can't stand when I see hurt or sick animals...I always feel so bad! That's why I ended up raising 2 newborn squirrels and many many sparrows, bunnies, you name it!
