Photo people - comparison compact digital Vs. SLR. need photos

I'm trying to help my friend decide between a digital SLR and a compact digi P&S. I'm explaining all of the technical differences, but I think an illustration would help. I can;t find it online..does anyone know of a site, or have pics that show the same pic taken wtih a compact digital and a digital SLR>

Many thanks!

I don't have any point & shoot photos as I've never owned a point & shoot.

You can say if you get a P&S digital, in a couple of years, you're going to want a different one. Why not just invest the few hundred dollars you're going to spend into the DSLR.

If you get the DSLR, that's your last camera you'll buy.

This website reviews all digital cameras and provides sample pics, etc. This might help your friend decide.

I figured there would be a site that showed the comparison, but so far no luck.

I agree with you, Barb, I think an SLR is a much better investment, and a really nice camera like the Nikon D40X (you know I'm also a Nikon gal) are fairly affordable. Especially since the P&S he was looking at was about $300! Chat Icon There's absolutely nothing a P&S can do that an SLR can't.

My friend just has NO idea what the difference is, and I want to show him how an SLR takes better pics even in automatic mode.
