Parents of toddlers (3)

I have a dilemma. DD is in the in between stage of walking and going in the stroller. We travel alot so for us its easy to throw her in the stroller and her do casual walking. Not sure when a stroller is retired for a toddler. Maybe I am overthinking this. The reason why I am perplexed is bc she is certainly not tall but her head is over about 99% of the strollers. She also falls asleep alot so I need something that reclines. I cant stand buying another stroller bc like everyone else we have 3-4 already. I went to BRU this weekend and the only one that actually "seemed" good for her size was the joovy kooper which was 200 less 20%. Should I get that one? do you have another suggestion? Laslty, is this going to be a big waste bc give it a few months and the whole thing will be retired? Any advice is appreciated.

I honestly wouldn't a $200 (even less 20%) stroller for a 3 year old.

I'd look on Ebay or something. I am pretty sure I see kids 3+ all over Manhattan in Maclarens....not cheaper, but maybe if you look around for one.

I have to say Christopher hasn't used a stroller in months. We have been to the city (took the train) and traveled to Florida without one.

What do you do when you are in Fl or Manhattan and Christopher gets tired? I am not willing to hold her the whole time. We are going to Bermuda in Oct and Florida in January. We do alot of activities. So you suggest that I discontinue it now?
I tried the mcclaren and it was like 200+ as well.

He walks. He doesn't really get to upset if he is tired.

If your trips are walking heavy, then of course, I'd bring one....

I just couldn't justify that cost, you know? I don't even want to buy a cheapie one b/c he barely uses it anymoreChat Icon

My dd is over 3 and still likes to sit in the stroller on occasion. Just last night, she made me take the double in the store because she wanted to sit and read her book instead of walking. Chat Icon

Have you looked at the Metrolite?

I love my Maclaren, its travels brilliantly and it reclines flat. I say spend the money if you can, you will get a lot of use out of it and you can always sell it if you don't use it anymore...my 3.5 year old still loves using his pushchair.

Re: Parents of toddlers (3)

I bought a chicco trevi when Rj was 2.... if Im going somewhere that requries alot of walking (like disney) I would use that... but tbh- I dont think we have used the stroller once since he turned 3 (actually we used it once- in the airport and that was because I was 5mths preggo, and flying alone with him and needed him to be confined)

Personally- I would not spend 200 on a stroller for a 3yr old.

Check out the Chicco C3. It is pretty tall and kinda reclines in the back. It is still useful for Leah!

I don't have any advice except that I love my McClaren and it fits my almost 3 year old perfectly fine. If you have another child, you can use it as well.

On another note, can I say how jealous I am that your toddlers sit in a stroller? DD will sit in it (not for me) but for my babysitter occasioanlly but NEVER EVER for me. I cannot stand it!

Re: Parents of toddlers (3)

If you felt you really needed it and would get use out of it then yes I'd buy one. You could always resell it later on.

Check out Once Upon a Child, I saw a ton of strollers there this week.

I would check out CL or ebay and get something cheaper. How big does it have to be? I mean the back? how high?

The back has to be higher. She is ONLY 34" and 29 pounds and her head is at the top of all strollers. There are much taller children out there so I cant figure out why this is happening. It must at least slightly recline.

hmm. I have a Combi stroller that we don't use (someone gave it to us used, but it's in good condition). It's bigger than the Combi helio DX we have. It reclines all the way . I will measure it when I get the measuring tape from another apt and see how high it is. If it's what you need you can have it (free) if you pick it up.

I wouldn't buy a new one at this stage. Try Craigs List or if you know you are going TTC again, buy it and save it for that DC (but if you end up with twins it may not workChat Icon Chat Icon )

I have this stroller and use it for both kids. DS#2 uses it most of the time, but sometimes if my 4yr old is tired he'll sit in it while DS#2 walks for a bit.
