What colors do you find you always flock to when it comes time to paint a room? If you could post pics of your favorite rooms I'd appreciate it.

I promise I am doing a search on previous paint posts...but wanted to see what you all loved.

So far I find that I tend to stay within the beige paints but I did venture out to green and I am so happy - now I need more ideas.

Re: Paint...I promise I am searching for past posts but...

I tend to gravitate towards blues - from a grey-blue to an aqua-blue to a rich navy blue. If I didn't think it would bore me to pieces I'd paint every room in my house some shade of blue! Chat Icon

I'm also drawn to sumptuous browns and warm greys...and am looking at shades of yellow/gold for our livingroom.

Pottery Barn has a great catalogue out now for Fall...they tell you which color paint was used on their walls. It's a nice jumping point for inspiration especially if you like to see the color in a finished/actual room as opposed to just on paint chips.

I'm drawn to warm earthy colors, even though the majority of the room in our house are painted shades of yellow. We just recently painted the bedroom a terracotta color with a dark cream color for the windows and door trim

Re: Paint...I promise I am searching for past posts but...

I snip and collect articles and pictures from magazines and ads for decorating ideas. A few years ago I snipped an article out of the Washingtonian magazine down here that recommended some shades of paint. The recommendations were from top area designers. I still go back to that article when I think about paint because the colors were classic and beautiful, but not boring.

The colors they recommended were:
- Storm by Pratt & Lambert: goes well with other colors. Rainey Day is a paler version.
- Platinum by Pratt & Lambert: soft, warm cafe' au lait color.
- Roasted Pepper from Duron: good, spicy color for a DR. Another similar, fiery choice is Farrow & Balls Picture Gallery Red.
- Boothbay Gray by Benjamin Moore: soothing choice for a BR.
- Pastry by Pratt & Lambert: golden, khaki color. Beige but not boring.
- Hawthorne Yellow by Ben Moore: warm but safe yellow. Weston Flax is softer. Suntan Yellow is a hot choice.
- Other cool-taupe colors recommended: Duron's Mushroom Basket or Estate Greige

I used Pastry in my last condo and loved it! It was inviting and a hint warm; beige but not boring just like they said.

I love warm colors too. Im not as crazy about neutrals and dark colors. But lately looking at more n more magazines/websites has me liking some colors in the brown and gray family.

I love walking into a house and feeling that cumfy/homey feeling..I feel like warm / bright colors do that for me. But it also depends on how you decorate I guess.

My SIL has her living room painted a teraccotta color and I love it!!

Thanks everyone - this is so helpful. I also went back and looked at posts where everyone had pics...so helpful! I want to go check out the sample for BM Lenox Tan now since so many pics were so gorgeous!

I am so tempted to try blue - maybe in one room. I think I'm going to stick with the warm beige colors but maybe try a different shade than I did before. And of course I am loving the green. There are too many decision.

Meanwhile - I'm dying for the potterybarn paint deck fan to arrive. Chat Icon

I love the pic you posted.

I gravitate towards earthy tones. I'll paint walls taupe and ivory, but then use color on the window treatments and on blankets and pillows.

I would say warm colors. My house is kinda like a rainbow of colors but everything blends. My stairway and landing is a mossy green, our livingroom, diningroom and kitchen is a pale goldish yellow I also have a wall/colum that is like a chile red. Our bedroom is a pale gold, guestroom is a pale lemon yellow, ds room is blue and oatmeal. Then downstairs our bathroom is an olivey green, office is pistachio green and the landing, stairway and laundry area is like a greyish tan color. Our bathroom upstairs is grey not by choice but only because it was the only color that would go with it. I know it sounds like alot going on but I purchased a picture before the house was painted that I liked so much and when the house was painted and I hung the picture all the colors in the picture are in the house and it was a fluke thing.

we are such blue people. Every room looks like a blueberry explosion.

This time with decorating, I am going to try my hardest to start out with warm colors.

Colors with warm tones. We tend to gravitate towards the BM Historical Collection.

The colors we've used:
BM Dorset Gold (family room)

BM Raisin Torte (dining room)

BM Wethersfield Moss (daughter's nursery)

BM Audubon Russet (guest room)
