Packing question for moving into new house?

I know there was a recent thread on boxes, but we're moving soon and I'm wondering what everyone uses to pad things like glasses, china, etc? All I can come up with is newspaper, but that seems like it might be messy. TIA!

for stuff super fragile like that, I gently put them in towels, etc and then drove them in my car...rather than in the moving truck.

I got a huge box of bubble wrap from Staple for the china and crystal. Like pp, in my car, not the moving truck.

Towels, sheets and blankets work great for that stuff. And that way it cuts the packing in half! Also paper towels and bubble wrap.

Used bubble wrap, foam inserts and white newsprint (all from Uhaul).

Thanks everyone! That is a very good idea about the towels, sheets, etc. I think we will definitely drive over the more fragile items rather than send them with the movers. It will be nice if we can get away with not buying any extra packing supplies but we shall see!

i started saving the plastic bags from the grocery store and used that (after i finished using all of my sheets, towels, etc.) much better than newspaper IMO bc there is no ink that gets all over everything and it wraps a little better and closer around the objects.
