Re: Overnight oats

I have - make sure you use quick oats, the rolled oats don't work as well.

I have to heat mine up in the morning, they just don't taste good cold to me, but it's nice to have it all mixed up and yummy and ready to go Chat Icon

I like to add a little chia seed to mine as well, very yummy!

Re: Overnight oats

I really like them, particularly when the weather is warm outside. Like PP, I like putting chia seeds in it too. It makes me fuller and not hungry until lunch time Chat Icon

Re: Overnight oats

I made them once with apples, in my crockpot. I used steel cut oatmeal.

They were okay.

It ended up being way too much though and we got tired of it after about day two.

I would probably do less next time around because the recipe I used made so much.

Great recipe though if you have a large family and kids/DH who will eat this after one meal.

ETA: I haven't tried them yet but I believe I saw chia seeds in Trader Joe's. I bet the organic/health food section might have them too at the regular grocery.

I've made one with steel cut oats, pecans, and coconut. It was good and so much easier than making steel cut oats on the stove in the morning.

Re: Overnight oats

This is the recipe I use
Slow cooker oatmeal
I doubled it and split the milk/water evenly, so

2 cups oats
4 cups water
2 pinches salt
4 cups milk
1/2 cup brown sugar
added 4T butter

I added more oats in the morning.

It was delish!!
