Overabundant milk supply question?

I have been having some bf problems lately and I think it's due to over supply and very fast letdown. Kyle has been choking at the breast and becoming fussy with feeds lately. He only nurses like 4-5 min tops on the breast and i'm not sure if he is done or just annoyed-lol.
I have been pumping after my morning feed and at night when DH gives him a bottle of expressed milk and I literally get like 5 ounces each breast in under 3-4 minutes!
Any advice-it has become frustrating to feed him lately.Chat Icon

I've read to feed him laying down or with him on top of you to slow the letdown a bit. HTH!

This def helps and exactly what i did and my LC told me to do.

I also hand expressed some before, so the flow slowed and put her back to the breast.

Oversupply is awful, i'm so sorryChat Icon

Perhaps rather than pumping after a feed (that will make your body produce more milk during that feed- creating a more forceful letdown), try designating a separate time to specifically pump.

In the first few months, I would pump an hour after DD went to sleep. After a few days of that, my breats would be full during that time in anticipation of that "feeding".

This way, your baby's feeding sessions will regulate to have just enough milk.

Another thing that I did when I was overly full was to pump a little BEFORE the feeding to reduce the forceful letdown.

That is my problem. At 14 months, I still have too much.

The beginning was terrible. Constant engorgement. I always have to point my boob up when nursing and his head is sort of on top of it.

I have the same problem. I've been pumping before feeding for a few min... to catch the letdown and that has seemed to help. Any other suggestions would be great.
