lol yea, why would they do that?? Chat Icon thanks for your reply..i thought i saw on here that someone said it was covered..its only slightly higher than the rest of the formulas, and we dont have to buy too often because shes only getting one or two bottles of it a day, but i figured i would ask lol

gentlease is not in the category of supplement like nutramigen and others thats why they are covered.

I think Insurance covers formula like Nutramigin and Neocate b/c they are needed for a medical reason.

What you can do is have them suggest a stronger formula for the reflux, and get it covered that way if the gentlease is not 100% making the reflux better.

thanks, im gonna see how this goes with the gentleease (were only on day 2) and mostly its just being supplemented with my breastmilk...how long are you supposed to see a difference in formula? Maybe after a few weeks, if i dont see a difference, they will make another change..
thanks for the info!! Chat Icon

I don't know how you feel about generic Jaime, but Walmart and Target sell it, and it's a lot less expensive than the Enfamil brand Chat Icon

same ingredients Summer?
id do that if it were the same, but im guessing when i have 4 or 5 coupons, im probably doing better then if i get them at walmart or anything, but thats a good option for when i dont have any coupons, as long as its the same thing...thanks!!

Right, but usually Gentlease is prescribed for gas.

If she has reflux, then usually Similac AR is given b/c it is thicker and has rice starch in it.

ETA: My DS was on Gentlease as well

Hmmm, I don't remember, but I'm sure b/c it changes all the time when they are that little.

I do know that it took about 10 days for it to help with my DS' gas and fussiness, but once I guess it set in, he was a different baby!

I hope your DD feels betterChat Icon Chat Icon

my son wa son gentlease for reflux ( and zantac as well)

He was a bit constipated the first 3-7 days. My ped suggested 2 0z of water up to 4 times a day to help..and it did help and within 2 weeks of starting the gentlease it was much better...the constipation and the reflux.
