Old Wives Tales
So I was at lamaze the other day and the instructor started talking about old wives tales....And it got me thinking of all the funny things that at one point or another I am sure people believed. So I thought we should start a thread with some of the ones we have heard.
The funny one my lamaze instructor said, which I had never heard of before...
When you are pregnant don't lift your arms above your head as it will cause the umbilical cord to strangle the baby.

Oh my grandmothers favorite:
If you are craving something and cant have it, scratch your bottom. It will (God Forbid there is a mark/scar on the baby) put the mark on the babies bottom instead of his/her face. She swears by this.

I was told if your slap yourself even lightly anywere on your body, the baby will come out with a red mark in the same exact spot lol... a girl at work said she slapped her bum and her son came out with a red mark on his bum lol.

my mother still believes this. she cringes every time i lift my hands over my head

my family so believes this one...i am like my face is itchy so they tell me to scratch my bottom...i'm like but i am not craving anything and plus my face is itchy...they still were like no don't do it! LOL

Its a shame my Mum isn't on here, she'd entertain us for hours, anyway, one I know for telling the sex of a baby is put a needle on a long thread and hold it up over your belly, if it circles to the right its a girl and to the left its a boy. I can't think of any more, my brain is AWOL
