old bethpage village

I was trying to think of something to take my mother to for mother's day since my grandmother just passed away...thought it would be nice to be out and about and not just go to a restaurant.

We were thinking Old Bethpage Village - but I have a couple of questions?

1. Is it nice?
2. How much time do you think we would spend there?
3. I read something about reserving guided tours weeks in advance - is that necessary? Chat Icon

Thanks for any info!

Re: old bethpage village

this is like a little house on the praire theme. not really a place to go for mothers day. it is very educational to the kids and has a nice little gift shop. no you do not need a guided tour. my daughter loved it there seeing the old stuff. you just walk though the houses and see a set up of the stuff they would have used. the houses come from all over the island. the school house is cute! the kids could not beleieve that it was a school lol!

i hope this helps!

What about Milleridge? They have that cute little village with the shops- won't take up your whole day, but it is a little more than just eating at a restaurant.

Too funny... I got married at the cottage at Milleridge Inn, so I know it really well...I'm going to run both by my mother and let her decide...its her day after all!

Re: old bethpage village

What about going into the city... you could walk around central park, shop a little, grab a little lunch...
or maybe the Southstreet Seaport???
