OK...there should be an age restriction for trick or treaters!
The police are out in full force I saw many incidents as I was driving home....a 15, 16 year old should not be going door to door asking for candy

I agree 100%.
And there are some by themselves. YEah, I'm opening my door to a lone teenage boy in a mask...no way!!!
I think I went trick or treating until 4th grade... age 10. It's a holiday for little ones.
If you are 14 or older, GET A JOB and BUY YOUR OWN D A M N CANDY!!!!
Trick or treating and college applications do not go together

I always felt that if you were old enough to get working papers, you were way too old to trick or treat.

They shouldn't be asking for candy. They should be dressed up & hitting each other with shaving cream & socks filled with flour. What is it with the youth today!?

I don't care if the older ones come around as long as they are in costume, but don't do something lame like just wear a baseball jersey and come around for handouts.

I have a lot of students, under 16, who work odd jobs... babysitting, mowing lawns, etc.
IMO, it's not appropriate to be that age and trick or treating. Little kids are trick or treating, older kids are just asking for a handout. Most aren't even dressed as anything.
Barb, you are right... what happened to innocent shaving cream fights in the street?

We just had a group of young kids come to our door. It's 9:15, they were w/ their parents. I think it's a little late to be ringing peoples door bells!

so funny you say this! my sisters and i took my niece and nephews trick or treating and we passed some girls all dressed up and going door to door...i swear to you, my lil sister turns to me and goes "OMG, i think that girl was in my economics class!"...lil is 22!!!!!

DH and I solved this dilema by going out to dinner at 7 and coming home after 9. So we missed all the teenagers in jeans and sweatshirts...

I agree! I bought three bags of candy hoping that would be enough. All these teenagers came w/o real costumes. Luckly I had enough candy for everyone. I still have leftovers!

I had a elderly lady and a small child come to our house, and the elderly lady was dressed as a witch and had a bag for candy  I thought it was weird, but funny too!
