I wouldn't let her sleep so much in the evening. And give her a larger bottle at about 10 or 11 pm. Add an ounce.

Put a few drops of lavender oil on her crib sheet at 11pm.

I swear this is how I have had DD sleeping from 10pm-8 or 9am since she was 2 weeks old.

Of course I may be speaking too soon - but it has worked so far!

Trust me, I am NO expert, but I don't necessarily agree...unless of course it works--then awesome! Chat Icon

But...I truly do believe that "sleep begets sleep." In other words, putting a baby to bed later doesn't necessarily mean they'll sleep later.

Also, and I don't know about you, but I don't want to see my girls past 8pm Chat Icon I need my Erin time! Chat Icon Putting her to bed so late is a looong day.

Lastly, if you give her a late bottle, she may become dependent on that and it's something else you may need to "break" her of down the line.

Just some food for thought.

You can try gently waking her at 10/11pm keep it dark in the room and give her a bottle then and hopefully she'll go back to sleep and give you a longer stretch at night.

You should keep in mind that this is only temporary and go to sleep by 9pm.

Yeah it totally depends upon your lifestyle. I would much rather have her up for a bottle at 10pm than wake me at 6am!! Chat Icon

Re: okay... I'm exhausted... is this normal? re: sleep

How long have you been putting her in her crib for? DS had a hard time transitioning and I put him in his crib at 3 months. You have to be stubborn. She already figured out that if she cries you will come and get her. DS has his last bottle at 8 and doesnt wake up until 8 the next morning. But for awhile we were giving him an additional few ounces before we went to bed and than over a few weeks we would cut back on the amount we would give him and eventually he just never woke up for a bottle anymore.

Good luck!

we used to keep dd up until 11 so she would sleep until 9 - then one day she fell asleep at 8 and we left her....low and behod, she was a 8 - 9 girl (now it went 7-8 don't know why!)....

IF THEY DON'T GET ENOUGH SLEEP, THEY ARE CRANKIER - JUST AN FYI!! Chat Icon

I agree with this!! Cailen was an awful sleeper, and I would just let him stay up without attempting to put him down because I thought he would be more tired and actually sleep!

I find that if I put him down early, he sleeps better and longer! Sometimes even all night!!!

Her 1 am bottle may just be because of habit. You can try cutting that out and just rocking her til she falls asleep. Another bottle at 4-5am is normal, I think and then it's great if she sleeps til 9!

My DD was exactly the same way. We changed her formula to soy and it was the same. she didn't change until she was 7 months old. Sorry Chat Icon I promise, it does get better. I was to the point where I didn't want any more children because I couldn't take it. My views have changes. Chat Icon

Hang in there momma, it will change!!!!
