Okay can anyone help me with feeding solids...

Both my boys eat 8oz bottles 5x a day (just about every 3 hours). At their 4 month appt the ped told me to start them on cereal and level 1 foods. Well i started them on level 1 foods and i give that to them in between the last two bottles of the day. Half a jar each (which they barely finish before they start playing with the food). Now we have been noticing that they cannot get to three hours between bottles (so it's usually 2 1/2 hours) and they cry when we pull the bottle away and all 8ozs are gone.

So should i introduce a second feeding of solids in the morning, do i move to level 2 foods??

They are 5 1/2 months and they are big for their age (almost 18 pounds each).

I know they are telling me they need to eat more, i just don't know what i should introduce. I am still working on introducing them to a new food every 3-5 days.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I wouldn't do level 2 foods yet, but give them more level 1 solids and cereal during the day. They should have a breakfast, lunch and dinner sort of meal.

ETA: I feed the boys 7 1/2 oz 4times daily. Each bottle is accompanied by some sort of solid except their bedtime bottle at around 8pm. They too, are about 18lbs and this schedule seems to satisfy them. Just food for thoughtChat Icon

I don't really give them cereal anymore because neither of them like it at all. So I moved on to Level 1 foods which they seem to like A LOT more.

I would try with the cereal again. It takes them a while to get used to it. Try mixing the cereal with BM or fomula and then mixing in fruits or veggies.
