Ok, sad again, but for a different reason (small vent!)

I have been searching the pet adoption sites looking for a fur baby. I can not believe how many pit bulls and beagles (or pit bull mixes, beagle mixes) that are abandoned and abused!

Every shelter I look at has these breeds making up about 90% of their population! Is it that people do not do their research before they get a dog, or what?

It just makes me feel sad, that's all. I am not a big fan of either breed, but my heart still goes out to them because people are careless.

I know its terrible. When I was looking for a cat, I had to pass some of the pit bulls in cages - I wasn't in the market for a dog, but it broke my heart to see them there. Esp. because shelters have to take the dogs, so they are routinely being put down. They can turn away people who want to dump their cats.

It broke mine and DH's heart. We were looking around for a boxer when we saw our Pitt, "Paige." We couldn't help it. We had to adopt her. I have to say she's the best dog, and we love her so much. I encourage people to adopt a dog that "no one else wants." My parents adopted a dog recently who hadn't even been out of his cage for two weeks. Not one person asked to look at him, and he's a wonderful dog.

Tell me about it. And the saddest thing is that so many more don't even make it to shelters

If I did not already have so many small dogs, I would rescue another Pit mix.
