You might be able to ask them to sew in a panel--I understand it can get expensive though. Also, when I was in my cousin's wedding this summer, they raised up the waist (from the hip area, since the dresses are usually longer than necessary) to add a couple of extra inches to the belly.

Re: Ok I am going to cry now...

From what I know about from my friends wedding, they can move the material around.
The brides sister, didn't lose the weight in time (after she gave birth) and her mother (the seamstress) took the extra material from other areas and added them to the sides.
No one knew except for the people she told.

Re: Ok I am going to cry now...

That really s**ks!

Is there anyway for you to call Bridal Salon where you got the dress and explain the situation to them - see what they say or suggest?

I know for my sister's wedding - I was MOH and 6 months pregnant and the dress was a bit tight also and they were able to take material from the scarf and add it to the back of the dress so it wasn't so tight around my belly. It ended up working out okay - but it really stinks when u have to pay for something and it won't even fit you.

Re: Ok I am going to cry now...

You can always call the dress company and order and extra fabric panel. I actually have the same problem for my friends wedding this summer. She ordered very straight, tight dresses with a fishtail bottom. My size when we ordered them was like a 4, but I think I ordered a 10. I'm going to see if it's too late to get a bigger size, because I don't know if I'll fit into a 10 at 6 months.

Re: Ok I am going to cry now...

They can use material from your hemline and bustline, as well as other people in the bp to add into the waist. Not to worry. I had a last minute bm change in my wedding last year and the new bm was a lot bigger in the waist than the original girl and they were able to make it look flawlessChat Icon

My SIL's wedding is March 18th and totally ignored all my pleadings to change the dress to maternity or a different style. Bridal reflections even told her the dress wouldn't fit me right.

I shouldv'e dropped out of this wedding, My MIL and SIL have done nothing but treat me like crap and ignore my pg since we told them. QUOTE]

If they have treated you this way since the beginning, I would back out. They should understand, considering they were unwilling to change the dress. With everything you are going though right now, you don't need this stress, IMO. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Ok I am going to cry now...

THis totally s*cks! When Bridal reflections told her the dress is not maternity friendly and wouldn't look right on me, my SIL's response was "I don't care". Not to mention I am the MOH! They have hurt me so much is the last couple months, I have felt since we told them about my pg, that it has been an "inconvenience" to them and the wedding.

I am so sad...I am just hoping and praying the dress fits on wedding day..

I had a nightmare a couple months ago that on her wedding day I went to do the side zip and i would go up all the way.

Is this worth the stress? I would NEVER treat my MOH or my SIL like this. I know that this is your family, but I would be pi$$ed. I cannot believe that your SIL would be so selfish. Ummm, the only word that comes to mind is....BRIDEZILLA! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Sorry you have to go through this while you are in the hospital. IMO, your MIL and SIL are really inconsiderate and selfish. They should be asking what they can do to help you, not make your life more stressful and difficult. Chat Icon

Re: Ok I am going to cry now...

After I spent the Friday before her shower in the hospital, that Sunday during her shower, having contractions and my mom and grandma chasing me all over the place, I DID EVERYTHING!! THe games, opening presents, the cake cutting. The maitre'd came over to me and said since you are the only organized one how do you want to do cake? I was like you f'ing serious, I am not the host, MY MIL is, but I did it anyways, I wound up having contractions the whole day, almost passed out, and the next day I was put on MEDS and bedrest. My mom and grandmother were sooo mad I had NO help!

This is exactly what DH and I fight over, he defends them until I flip out on him. YOu hit the nail on the head!

Then drop out and let your DH deal with them and their issues. Tell DH that your health and the health of the baby is at risk, which it is. Stress can bring on contractions. If it were me, I would drop out and not think twice about it.
DH knows how is family is, he just defends them because they are family. Which is understandable, but you and your daughter are his family now. If you have a heart to heart with him about how they treat you he should come around. I am flabbergasted about this! For God's sake, this is your MIL's future granddaughter and she is stressing you out!! I have never in my life seen such selfishness. I am so sorry this is happening to you. This is exactly what I tell him, I think my mom is more ticked than me since she has been witnessing it for the last 8 months and couldn't say anything.

I can't believe they are doing this to me, It really hurts me, I have been with DH for almost 8 years, married for 1 and half, i thought i was family, I guess not...

I def don't need this right now. My mom and I are looking at websites to find a dress just in case BR can't do anything..

Re: Ok I am going to cry now...

Im so sorry you are going through this.
My sister is getting married in June and she was accommodating with the dress she picked.
She picked it specific to all body types and thinking I would be PG by then.
I ordered a size 18 (Im usually a 8/10) just in case I got real big.
If it gets too stressful, I would just back out. It is NOT worth the stress you YOU.
Im hoping I will be able to make my sisters wedding in Florida.
I hope it gets betterChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Ok I am going to cry now...

Since you are the MOH, why can't you wear a different, but coordinating dress? David's Bridal carries maternity dresses, and I think you don't need that much advance time to order one. They may even have them in stock. If not, the bridal shop should be able to put in "gussets" to taper the sides out for you. I'm sorry this is so much trouble for you. As the MOH, there should be a little more accommodations made for you -- especially since you ARE FAMILY!!! Try to relax and feel better. As the other girls said, you can always drop out if it becomes too much for you. You and your baby have to come first. I had one of my bridesmaids almost 9 months PG for my wedding, and she always had the option of dropping out. It was her decision to stay in. p/s - the seamstress made the dress fit her.

Re: Ok I am going to cry now...

I was in a wedding at 8 months. I actually ordered the dress when I wasn't preg, size 8. The dress was strapless and fitted.

Needless to say I was not a size 8 when I was 8 months!!! I had the bridal store order extra fabric and they basically they had to make me a new dress. It wound up costing $200 but to me it was worth it because my cousin means so much to me and being part of her wedding was important to me.

I would call BR and tell them you would like to order extra fabric and then I am sure they can fix it.

Good luck

I feel SO bad for you! You are doing her a favor by being in her wedding party the least she could do is be a bit more accomodating especially that you are pregnant! I hope all turns out ok for you Chat Icon
