Ok-- so, DH just took the saliva test...
And he's OVULATING! Well, not really, but the fern pattern appeared. At least I know what it looks now. 
Ok, now I really don't know how much stock to put in this stupid test!

I just did it again-- even though you are supposed to do it in the morning-- and I got the fern too!!
I think I was using WAY WAY too little saliva.
So, I will try again in the morning and see what happens.
ETA-- his fern looked a little different than my fern. Oooo that sounds dirty!

so he showed you his fern and you showed him yours?
then you compared ferns?
I know NOTHING about the saliva kits! Have you thought about trying the digital OPKs?

I will try them next cycle... if I need to.
I hope that I get a fern again in the morning-- and we'll see how the next few days go.
We are getting on a plane at 8 AM tomorrow, so I think it's the saliva or bust for this cycle anyway-- unless I pick up some up while I am away. I am on CD20 and I should ovulate soon according to my calculations
Honestly, DH taught me how to use the damn thing-- I knew I wasn't using it right-- it just didn't feel right. And the tests are supposed to 98 or 99% accurate.

The saliva test is another method of OPK. You place some of your saliva on a mini microscope, then you wait for it to dry-- then you examine it.
If the dried saliva shows a fern-like pattern, it means you are ovulating or it's around your ovulation time.

You are supposed to do the test first thing in the AM before you ingest anything or brush your teeth-- I think food may have an effect on the results-- since we both got a lot of ferns when we did the test at night and after dinner. I tested again this morning, and I had a couple-- but not as much as I did last night. So, I am probably approaching ovulation, which is what I suspected.
The test is cheaper than some other methods-- $40 to $50, and it's totally reusable and it's a one time fee, all you need.

Oh ok i just checked out the site, thats interesting. Does the saliva test have a better chance in detecting ovualtion better then peeing on a stick? If so I might try that if I dont become preggo this month. Thanks Randi

i hate the saliva one....
the only one that worked for me (helped me with DD) and am using now is the CBE digital tests with the smily face.
They are $$$, but worth it.
