Oil companies & prices

Hi everyone!

We are in the process of trying to figure out which oil company to use. Would you mind posting your oil company and how much you pay per gallon? Also, if you have a service contract, how much is that?

Also, if anyone has any other comments regarding specific companies I would greatly appreciate it!

ETA: We are in Suffolk just in case some companies only work in certain areas.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Oil companies & prices

We have Lewis Oil and pay $2.64/ gallon. The service contract was free with the year contract and covers the water heater also.

ETA: The best thing to do is call all the oil companies and get their rates and contract prices - the prices change throughout the year so you won't get quoted the same price I am paying.

I locked in in July, when the prices where sort of low for contracts.

Re: Oil companies & prices

We use Petro. We have a service contract for a year with them and selected a ceiling plan for oil delivery. We chose to pay a balanced budget each month, so we pay $180/month. They service your burner for free and make any repairs for free under their service contract.

They delivered oil here yesterday and the rate was $2.189/gallon.

Also, when you sign up with them, they give you 100 gallons of free oil.

Re: Oil companies & prices

It is hard to go by what other people pay for their oil, b/c a lot of people have locks and caps. Since the price of oil can vary greatly depending on the season, it's hard to compare with someone already in a contract.

We use Petro - they have a cap on the amount that can be charged... good deal!

We checked with Skaggs and Walsh, Standard and Petro. Standard was the cheapest for us at $2.34 a gallon and $175/year service contract. The nice thing about Standard is that we locked in at $2.34 but they will also adjust your price downward if the price per gallon is cheaper. I'm in Queens so I'm not sure if they're local.

This is like the 45th time i am writing this. But on the advice of someone here i called Nordica fuel. They do COD. I have bought from them anywhere from 1.85 - 2.20 a gallon. We paid $160 for a contract with Precise Fuel who are affiliated iwth them.
