Office Renovation - How bad is the smell of paint and fumes?

We recently moved into a newly renovated office. I am positive they did not use low VOC paint. It smells like a nail salon in here. It's been almost 2 weeks now and the smell is still lingering. The worst part is the clear coat varnish they used on the wood. How bad is it for me to continue to work here? We only have 2 small windows since this is an attic space. There is no ventilation in here. I mentioned this to my boss and how fumes can cause birth defects. He said I can bring in a fan.
I called my OB but she wasn't available. I'm still wating for her to call back. I asked the nurse and she doesn't even know what VOC paint is.
