Re: October's Birth Stone?

I'm pretty sure its Opal

(my Mom's b'day is in October and she NEVER cared for her birthstone)

Old wives tale is that unless Opal is your birthstone you should not wear it (bad luck supposedly)

Re: October's Birth Stone?

I googled it...here you go:

October is another month with two acceptable birthstones! Opal & Tourmaline are both represenative of this month.

eta: opals are very hard to care for, and a "good" opal is $$$!

Re: October's Birth Stone?

ahh yes the pink is much prettier than the opal... IMO

And as I said, I always remember my grandmother saying that OPAL was ONLY to be worn by October babies.. that if you wore Opal and was not born in October, it was deemed "bad luck"

But puhleeze, do you really believe that Chat Icon

I don't know! I was thinking of a cute little gold name plate, but I don't know how I feel about it. I am her godmother and she just got a cross in April for her christening... think I could get her another one? Sounds like it could be REALLY cute!

Re: October's Birth Stone?

I'm an october Birthday, i have to warn you the pink tourmaline is pretty but it kind of looks like a "cheap" stone even when it is set in white gold with diamond accents. DH bought me a beautiful ring for my birthday one year and its often mistaken for a sterling silver gemstone ring

Re: October's Birth Stone?

Brooke - get her the name plate - I think that is cute.

I remember buying Sara a really pretty necklace/earring set from Fortunoff with these little hearts. Very cute.
