NYC teachers...question
why does everyone call each other Ms and Mr????? Its so weird to me...No one calls each other by their first names

It took a few years but now we call eachother by our first names.
A lot of people still call me "Savage" which was my maiden last name....they don't even do the Ms. thing and noone remembers my married name.

what do you mean? People say Ms....? It is probably b/c they are in the habit of saying in front of the kids. It probably isn't a matter of being formal to you per say. I know for me sometimes it becomes force of habit. Sometimes teachers have a heart attack if the students know there first names and it is easier to just say their last name.
