NYC Restaurant Recommendation for This Saturday Night (for a "foodie" DH)...
...For DH's b-day dinner...
He likes unique things, will try anything (though I won't... no super-weird stuff for me).
Maybe downtown, cool envoirnment (but not necessary), someplace we can get a reservation this late in the game, were thinking around 7pm.
We already tried for Howard Dieterle's place (Top Chef winner), but it's booked till 10:15.
Any suggestions?
I'm drawing a blank...

We've gone there and enjoyed it.
Here is what is said about it and I totally agree:
Slightly fancier than the average Thai, this dark, sexy (think candles and mirrors) East Villager proffers delicious dishes with a contemporary twist dispensed by a friendly crew; if servings are small, so are the prices.

Le Bonno Soupe is delish (66th bet. 5 & 6)
Sala on the Bowery for tapas/spanish food
Parigot (also downtown) cool parisian environment

We went to Hearth a few weeks ago and it was fabulous (perfect for a foodie  )
The menu changes seasonally but there are common, and less common items.
Its in the east village, around 1st & 12th I think.
