Any W Hotel is pretty good. I like the W in Times Square.

Sheratons I've stayed in are so-so.

Fitzpatrick, which I had to practically live in for a month or two every year is nice too.

Not sure about the prices. If you opt for a W/Sheraton or chain hotel make sure to sign up for their frequent guest membership for discounts, free hotel stays, etc.

Re: nyc hotels

the Paramount was priced right when I worked there...any Ian Schrager hotel for that matter. The Time hotel is also relatively cheap. We stood at the Muse hotel for our HM, it was free because my friend worked there but I think it's not that $$.

I stayed at the Hilton by 6 or 7 ave lately. It was a good price, it's not a boutique hotel but the rooms are big.

Re: nyc hotels

We always stay at the Marriott mellinium which is down by battery Park ( it was across the street from the TowersChat Icon . We love it becaus eit is kind of off the beaten path ( we can't stand Tomes Square, waaaay too touristy) and we love the vilage, So-ho etc, so we love being down town.

I think the Paramount is reasonable, but the room was so small I walked right into the bed inside the door.

I stayed at the Roger William last week and that was $350 including taxes, but I wasn't crazy about it - very 70's decor.

My favorite is 70 Park on Park Ave. I get a corporate rate and it's usually around the $350 mark.

I felt the same about the Paramount...too small for the $$$. And the rooms seemed dated.

My DH used to stay at the Roger William b/c it was by his showroom...I never liked it b/c it was too "asian" in decor for my taste and the rooms weren't very big.

And I also feel the W's are overrated. I was never impressed with their rooms.
