No internet service on my other computer - can anyone help me?
OK - frst off, I'm a cyber moron, but I dont know whats happenng - on the computer I always use (and use for work because I have somethign downloaded on there for remote access) is not working. The icon shows that I'm connected to the internet, and the fact I can access the internet on DH's laptop means that there is nothing wrong with the provder - so what gives?
It gives me that page - you know - The page cannot be disaplyed page... No matter what I do - I dsconnected and reconnected the router and the modem, restarted the computer, and still nothing. It stinks because I really need it to access stuff for work today - I am not feeling well and working from home.... I have a report I need to write and now I cant....

is the modem connected to a router, or directly to your pc, and DH has a wireless internet card?

I am no big help.
I usually just re boot the whole computer.
Sometimes that will help.

the reason i ask is because i had the same problem. it turns out that we had a bad router - but i could still connect to the internet on my laptop because my wireless card was mistakenly was connecting to another router (i think the people in the downstairs apartment  )

if that's the case (that you use a router) can you try connecting your computer directly to the modem?

well, i guess it's possible. try connecting the modem directly to your computer instead of using the router.

When you reboot everything you should to do it in a certain order:
1. Shut everything down
2. Boot up your cable modem and wait for all the lights to stabilize
3. Boot up the router
4. Boot up your PC
5. Boot you your DHs PC (after you test to see if your internet connection is up)

Thanks ladies - its working now - I just disconnected the modem again, and waited before reconnecting it!!!
