Newborn Screening Test- Did anyones DC ever have to get retested?

This is the blood test that they do in the hospital, take blood from the heel.

I understand it tests for a bunch of disorders and results are called into the pediatrician.

I got a letter stating they didnt have ped info and wanted a retest for one of the twins.

Please ease my mind and tell me what your experience was.

I googled this and a retest can mean SO many things!
Im freaking out!

The results, I wont know of until doc comes in at 12:30.

Yes, they told me that DS's testing came back that he could have cystic fibrosis.

I told the ped that I was tested for that during pregnancy, and they were totally unaware that pg women are tested for it .

They kept suggesting that I get DS tested anyway, but I continued to refuse. I was right, he didn't have it.

But, it did send me into a tail spin thinking something was wrong.

My DS had to be retestested. I nearly gave myself a nervous break down googling all the possibilities.

You're lucky your results are coming back so fast. Take deep breaths....until then, I'm sure everything is fine. Turned out my DS was fine too, apparently it's common to retest.

yes, that letter we rec'd was so scary! ds needed it for his thyroid. we took him back to get retested and the results where questionable. doc talked to an endo who said my DS was totally fine. last week we got another notice in the mail saying he needs to be rescreened again he is 4 months old now, my THyroid was low during my pregnancy so I have a feeling that's why his results were off.

he is going back to the doc next week for 4 month and I don't want them retesting him if it's not absolutely necessary

YUP.. and that letter was soooo scary
my DS had to get retested because of underactive thyroid.. and its indeed the cause..
he is taking meds for it, and will be on it for 3yrs

Nicholas had to be retested bc his came back abnormal but I was rest assured that was bc he was a preemie. When they retested everything came out fine
