newborn-dry lips

My Chat Icon is 10 days old and her upper lip looks so chapped and dry. She isn't dehydrated and she is getting enough to eat so I know it's not that. I have read that putting lanolin (like what you put on your nipples for BFing or pumping) is safe and works.

Anyone have experience with this?

Re: newborn-dry lips

Yep DS had this first month. Our ped said BF babies tend to have dry lips, and that its normal.

I put lanolin on his lips, and I still use it on his face when it gets dry.

Re: newborn-dry lips

our ped said it's normal- same for any dry skin on a newborn. he said their body is getting used to going from a water environment to an air one.

our ped said we don't need to put anything on DD's lips.
