Newborn bed time?

I know you shouldn't put a NB on a schedule but when do you normally start putting them to sleep?

Re: Newborn bed time?

I would put her to sleep when I went to sleep so I could catch at least 2 hours straight. So I would usually sleep at 11pm and she would go to sleep too.

I figured if I put her down at 9 and then I went to sleep at 11 she would wake me up so soon that I wouldnt be able to catch any ZZzzzz's.

DOnt know if im explaining myself right but I hope you get it lolChat Icon

Re: Newborn bed time?

We do our first nighttime sleep between 10:30 and 11:30 pm. She usually goes until 3:30 am from there, then around 7 am. DD will be 8 weeks on Thursday.

Re: Newborn bed time?

my ds is a great sleeper and he's been STTN since he was about 6 weeks old...having said that, when he was a newborn (the first 3 weeks) he would sleep and wake every 3 hours for a feeding...so there really wasn't any bedtime

Re: Newborn bed time?

ds is 6 mths old and from the first night he was home from the hospital, i put him to bed at 730, started the routine then..he obviously woke up every few hours then, but i wanted him to get used to that being nighttime and sleeping longer..hth

Re: Newborn bed time?

about 10:30-11 then i would go to sleep.
as they slept longer stretches i would put them in earlier. 7 1/2 months old they go to sleep at 9 and are up by 6 or 7am.

Re: Newborn bed time?

we do bath/pjs before 8pm feeding. Then they hang with us on the couch till their 11pm feeding and then we put them down right after the 11 feeding. They usually wake up around 4-4:30 to eat again. They are 6 weeks old. I think the routine is more for me at this point but it seems to be working.
