Need help with Nantucket/Martha's Vineyard

Me, DH and DD along with 2 other families are looking to go to either Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard for a few days in the summer. We would love to either rent a big house or stay at a hotel that has suites but I'm having a hard time finding either. Does anyone have any recommendations? And which one is better for kids - MV or Nantucket?

Thanks!

I have been to both. Nantucket is more of a walking town.
You can walk to shops, restaurants, etc. You may be able to walk to the beach (if staying in town) but most people bike it or take the bus.

MV is more of a driving town. I have only been to MV twice and in the fall so I vote for Nantucket as a summer getaway.

We staye at Bed andBreakfasts and most of them are not children friendly.

Rentals generally start at the first of the year. My advise is to move quick!!! They rent out fast!!!!

We've rented summer homes on MV and BI. I've never been to Nantucket, but our friends whom we rent with have been there and they much prefer BI and MV, finding MV and BI much more kid friendly. My DH has been to Nantucket too and feels the same way.

MV is a much bigger island and has quite a few towns, as a result, there's much more car traffic, but nothing unreasonable. We stayed in Edgartown and we were reasonably close to South Beach, which was very nice...similar to Jones Beach, just not as wide.

Just be prepared that if you're interested in renting a home, they're usually 1-2 week rentals and $3K+ a week during the in-season (summer).

My suggestion would be to contact a few MV or Nantucket realtors and inquire about rental homes or you can just do a search online.
