need help... my dog has a slipped disc and i'm terrified
i am losing it.
sophie (my 5-6 yr old small terrier mix) slipped a disc suddenly late monday night. spent the night with her in the ER and she was finally sent home on 2 meds for pain / inflammation. she has very slight neurologic deficits from this.
brought her to our vet for another opinion yesterday. she wants us to continue with these meds for a few days. if sophie doesn't improve considerbly we will either do a course of steroids or a referral to a surgeon. she said that most dogs do fine, although it's likely to recur.
i will do ANYTHING to help her. money is no object. i am freaking out because my ILs dog died from this - one day they came home and she was paralyzed.
this dog is like my baby. this is unbearable.
anyone have any experience at all with this?

My Reggie had the same problem. But, we had no choice but to get him the surgery. We took him to the AMC in Manhattan. They did an awesome job.

how did he do after the surgery? did he recover completely? i would get the surgery in a heartbeat if it means she would be better
