Need an Accountability Partner!

I really need to get my diet on track. I used to be such a clean eater but it's gone downhill over the past year. I can typically eat clean throughout the day but after I put my DS to bed, I find myself in front of the TV munching on junk. It's not like I'm even hungry at that point - I'm just stuck in a horrible rut that I can't break out of.

I think having an accountability partner might help me. Or if there's some advice you can share that's worked for you, that would be great!

Need an Accountability Partner!

hey! That sounds like fun. Here are a few tricks you can try if yo u are truly not hungry:

1. Put your son down and then immediately go brush y our teeth. Nothing tastes good mixed with that mint!

2. Drink water

3. Knowing that you are doing this, skip a snack during the day. It really doesn't matter what time you eat, calories in vs calories out is the key to weight loss, so save yourself 100-200 calories to account for this night time nibbling.

4. Use the time to do an at home workout or other hobby.

5. Don't keep junk in the house. If it's not there you can't eat it. this one tends to be hardest for those with kids, but it is completely doable. It will also help them get on healthier habits too. Snacks = fruits and veggies. :)

I hope this helps. Please feel free to FM me if you have questions or post them here.

This sounds like me!! I stopped buying junk but it only works for a week or so at a time. I always have SOMETHING in the house. I try to avoid the real bad stuff and stick to plain dark chocolate but even that doesn't always last. It's just so tempting. I always want dessert whether I am hungry or not. It's like a mental satisfaction.

Thanks for your response! Your first two suggestions sound easy enough to implement Chat Icon I really don't snack throughout the day - the nighttime munchies are my downfall. I've stopped buying junk but somehow cookies or snacks find their way in (from my DH). And it's usually not a lot but I end up eating the entire amount in one sitting (so embarrassed to admit that). It's like I have no self-control or willpower.

I also try not to keep "junk" in the house but can easily eat too many of my kids goldfish!

I do my best by:

Staying out of the kitchen after dinner and cleanup

If i go in its for fruit, raw veggies or water only

If i am really craving something salty or crunchy i just portion in out and dont deprive myself

I know i start to eat when i am tired/stressed so i often just go to bed early (10) to avoid eating!
