Need advice from BTDT moms of stomach virus- we all got it

friday night- vomitting
sat all day no vomitt ate lightly just rice cereal and formula
sat pm started diarrhea
sunday all day diarrhea

called the dr. they said its a viral and to continue to feed her as usual.

ok- when I just gave her fluids water and forced pedalyte with a dropper she hates it no diahrrea.
DH calls dr cause he says give her milk she is hungry- dr. ok's it.
since then diarrhea is back and not only is it foul smelling it went from green to yellow now and I cant tell you how many onsies and pjs I have thrown out already b/c it is explosive.

my question is- is this the norm? how long will it last? and when should I worry?

she was running around playing allday now she is crying and crying, I feel so bad.
what can I do?

Sounds like a normal stomache virus, which is why you shouldn't give her the cow's milk formula. I know of people who have switched to soy formula during a stomache virus and it helped. If she can keep the pedialyte down, then I'd just keep giving her that and maybe some rice cereal made with water. It will help bind her up a bit.

Hi Rachel, thanks. Yes she only drinks soy formula. ok so this color change and stink is normal. How long does it lasts?

forgot to add she was walking before and it just came right out all over the floor thats how bad it is

Isomil makes a formula for diarrhea. I remember my dd having a stomach virus when she was still on formula and our doctor told us to get that. It was the only thing that stayed down. It was 10 days of pure hell. We also had her suck on a pedialyte ice pop. She never had one before. We held it for her and she sucked on it. It made me feel better because she was also able to keep that down too.

thank you ladies- well the bug spread throughout the house
I had the diahhrea and DH was throwing up- today is a good day we all feel better and since yesterday afternoon no pukies or poopies

We had the same weekend...DS got it from daycare and started vomitting at 1:30am fri morning. Vomitted all night and had diarrhea all the next day. He didn't poop the next 2 days, but when he started pooping last night, it was explosive again and yellow mustard seedy. But other than that, he's eating normally now and doesn't seem upset. We gave him pedialyte when he would really eat over the weekend and as long as he had some wet diapers and wasn't lethargic, we weren't really worried. He gave it to me on Saturday, DS got it Sunday and my mom got it yesterday after coming over to help us out....it's going around. It's almost over, hang in there.

so far 9 people from DD's party ( at a hall with over 100+) have gotten it- so we are all wondering if someone there was sick and didnt say or just getting it and didnt know. I have to make phone calls and see how many more there are!

Maddie and I just had that. The Dr said as long as they have fluids, the food isn't so important. I gave her cheerio's to snack on. After 3 days, she is getting her appetite back.
