Nanny Christmas gift

For those of you who have a nanny, do you get her a Christmas gift, give her a bonus, or both? Does anybody have any recommendations on what to get? We are giving her the week off between Christmas and New Years and still paying her but I am not sure what else to do.

Our nanny has the week between Christmas and New Years off too. We will get her a little something - not sure what yet, and a bonus..

I would say the week of is a nice enough bonus! I would maybe do another small token gift, like a bottle of wine and a card signed by kids or something. (Unless the week of is part of her contract, then maybe throw in something else, like a GC)

I have heard it's customary to give them one week's pay. Last year she was only with us for a few weeks at Christmas so we gave her $50 and a bottle of wine. I think a week's pay is a LOT (well for what we pay our nanny ) so I'm not sure what we're going to do.

We have only had our nanny for 3 months but i am going to give her about 2/3rds week pay as a bonus plus a nice gift like a coach bag or ugg boots - and maybe an ornament of the three boys

But i love our nanny and want her to stay with us for a long time she is fabolous with all 3 of my kids - she gets 2 weeks of paid vacation time in march when we are away also - but 2 weeks is part of her contract

She will have off from the 23rd to the 28th or 29th(we will be away.) A bonus($250 or so) and a gift. We are also giving her a $2 an hour raise in January. She is awesome though. Extremely reliable(has not called in once in a year) punctual, great with my kids, etc.
