My "visit" to the emergency room last night...

So I've been having MAJOR lower back pain for the past week or so. To the point where I almost buckle over sometimes when I try and stand up.
So all day Monday and yesterdy I had this back pain with a headache. My mom convinced me to call my doctor just to let her know whats going on with me. When she wasn't in I spoke to another OB in the practice who I havnen't had the chance to meet with yet. He heard my symptoms and told me to go to Winthrop Emergency ASAP Chat Icon He thought it might be a kidney infection. I couldn't believe it!
So I went down and they ran some tests to make sure I'm not having contractions, did an internal to make sure I'm not dialated (both had nothing) And the ruled out from where the pain is-- no kidney infection. But still took lots of urine samples.
And I'm sitting there (in pain) thinking all this for back pain??? So in the end after all of this. They tell me to see an orthapedic dr. for the back pain and a neurologist for the headache (which I think is a bit much)

And after all of that... my back still hurts ridiculously and today no sign of a headache. Chat Icon

Has any of this happened to anyone else??

I never had back pain that bad during my PG, but think it's definitely possible that it's just from the PG. Hope you feel better soon! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: My "visit" to the emergency room last night...

I'm sorry you're not feeling well!

This happened to me. Both the back pain and headache. The back pain was so bad a couple of time that I could not get out of bed by myself...serioiusly.

My headaches were so bad at times that they turned into migraines and made me vomit.

What has made a difference and really been helping me for the last few weeks is making sure I'm drinking a ton of water, this helps with the headache and back pain.

I thought I was drinking enough water but I really wasnt and I was dehydrated. When you're dehydrated it can cause both headaches and backaches.

I also started seeing my chiropractor, he is great. I go 3x a week (my choice to go that much) and Ive noticed a huge difference in the head and back pain with this too. Im not sure where you live but if you want his info, you can FM me. He is so nice and his wife has 4 kids...plus many of his patients are PG so he has a lot of experience adjusting preggos.

I also bought a maternity belt from BRU and wear it when I know I'll be on my feet a lot.

My doctor sent me to a neurologist for my headaches too. Nothing came of it, they didnt find anything, its just pregnancy realted.

I also had a renal sonogram on my kidneys and several sonos, urinalysis and some other tests and everything came back fine, just like you.

Its just my body changing and the baby laying on different things inside.

I hope you feel better soon!

I have had both headaches and recentley back pain...I have not had them together. I am just assuming the backache is from the extra weight.

Thanks so much girls!!! Chat Icon

I was able to speak to my normal doctor and she suggested a chiropractor. I'm making an appointment shortly and hopefully they'll be able to help me with this unbearable pain!!

I do wear the back brace, it helps a little, but nothing substancial.
