My Ped won't split up the MMR shot....
I spoke with her today at DD's 4 month appt about splitting up the MMR shot into three separate shots. She won't do it and she said that it has been proven that if you split them up they don't work as well in protecting against the diseases?? She said she has no problem delaying it.
I am upset with this info. I really like our Ped but I also really want to split up the shot.
Is this normal that she won't allow me to split it???

I spoke to my ped about it also. He said I could do whatever I wanted...he's my child. Split them up. Delay them. Doesn't matter to him.
Can you find other peds in the area to talk to about this?

Ask her to refer you to the study that prooves this. If it really exists, I would love to see it. I've never heard this. All doctors can order seperate vaccines, so if she refuses, she's not listening to you and I would suggest finding a new doctor. I posted earlier about Dr. Sear's new vaccine book. He talks about splitting the shot in his book and even suggests it.

Can you just ask for a RX to have them separated, pick them up and still have the DR administer them? THat option was offered to me b/c my PED doesn't stock them separate.

i asked my ped the other day too and he said he wasn't sure if it would be available separately??? But it can be delayed...so when it comes time we will see then...I'm going to wait until he's at least 2..maybe a little older.
oh..and he said there is no direct link between the MMR shot and autism

ita. I cannot imagine any real evidence that would support her claim that a split shot does not work as well.....
And I am not sure I'd be willing to trust someone who dismisses my concerns

I have done a lot of research regarding the shots. Basically it all comes back to that they are safe and have no link...
with that said...
Im still separating the shots....

yeah...I'm really bothered by this....
That is a great idea about getting an RX to split them up and having her administer them....I am going to ask about that.
