My DS is having surgery for hypospadias, how will I not feed him for 12 hours?????

He will be 7 mos old.

It really isn't that bad. DS had to do it twice. Once at 9 months and again at 2.5 y/o.. I just kept him occupied with toys and the IPhone both times...He slept a lot at the 9 month one. I just gave him an extra bottle before the time limit was up... Held him over bit.. At 2.5 it was a little harder because he kept telling me he wanted to eat...It is harder on us...

I'm just worried he will wake up in the night to eat and I wont be able to feed him.

Can you dream feed him before the cut off? That is what I did... He woke up once, but I was able to get him back off without much trouble...

Dd had surgery at 9 mos. I woke her around 1am as gave her a bottle.
It was scheduled to begin at 9am, but it got pushed back to 12. They said it was ok to offer her clear liquids, I gave her some apple juice, which I did. She napped around 10:30 and woke just before they took her in, so it wasn't as bad as we thought.

DS has the same surgery at 6 months. I feed him his last bottle as late as I was able to. When he woke up in the am and needed something I gave him watered down apple juice. He actually did ok. He was fine with that. Once the surgery was over they allowed me to give him juice first. Once they saw he can tolerate this without getting sick they allowed me to give him a bottle while in recovery. Good Luck!! (I found this whole process harder on me and dh then it was on ds)
