My 2 wks old has a temputure of 100
just called the ped, but got after hour messaging service.
I know a normal newborn temperature is between 97 - 100.4, so she's at the higher end... what can I do?

You can put her into a tepid bath.... That will help cool down her body temp.
Not sure if it's safe to give her tylenol yet....

If it goes up to a 100.4 or higher you have to take her to the ER. I had the same thing happen to DS when he was 11 days old. They don't take the chance with a newborn.

Also make sure she is not overly wamr with the heat, or clothing. Dress her lightly (not swaddled).

Forgot to ask... are you taking her temperature rectally? If not, then do so as your ped will need that measure as opposed to under the arm, etc.

I took her temperature from her ear. Just took it again, and it's now 99.0
I will take her swaddle off. I am so worried, I am crying.

Only rectal temp and straight to the ER at 100.4.

I would take it rectally, ear thermometers are not accurate in infants.

You must do a rectal temp. The ear thermometers are never ever correct. It is critical to take a newborns temp rectally. Do you have a rectal thermometer ?

rectal temp is 99.1, i hope i did it right, she was very squirmy. ped said to call if temp is over 100.5
meanwhile i have a fever myself and bodyaches, i just want to curl up and cry

Don't do anything except call the ped.
No bath.
No tylenol.
Just wait to hear from the ped.

I would keep taking her temp every 30 minutes - 1 hour to make sure there are no spikes. Don't worry- we have all been there
The rectal temp is always the MOST accurate. I usually take it three times in a row to really confirm a reading.

Honestly if it goes up at all above 100 and you dont hear from dr, I would go to the er.
