Appropriate for a 2 1/2 year old?
He loves his dinosaurs...

I think he would have fun there. The sea life room is great too! Or you could try the Dinosaur Walk Museum in Riverhead. It's not huge, but it's cute and they have quite a few dinos in there.

We brought our kids when they were 3 & 2. They loved it - although Maddie didn't remember much. It's definitely overwhelming for them so don't plan to spend the whole day. I would say 2 hours is a maximum.

Definitely 2 hours max.
We just took the kids there this summer. My 7 and 10 year olds could have stayed all day. My 4 and 6 year olds were done in an hour.

I was thinking of taking John as well. My brother took my nephew at 2.5 and he loved it.

I go there all the time with Jordana, and she not 2 yet. He will have a great time!!!
Children's Museum of Manhattan. Its on 84th between Amsterdam and Broadway.

I used to take DS there at that age quite often. He loved it! The gift show is great too. They have "fossil experts" there to answer questions for the kids.
